I have entered my very first online comic con, put together by the awesome team of Michael Cannon and Jon J Murakami. Comic Cam Hawaii online Mini Con was done thru Facebook and run like with the FB marketplace. In a lot of ways really inspired me to keep drawing and creating new stuff. It seems I can't finish things fast enough to keep up with my brain. it all started with the brown comic backing boards to blank cover comics and now tee shirts and art pieces. I haven't post them up yet as i'm still working on them. Many many thanks to Michael Cannon, Jon J Murakami and the CGC conspirators: Leiji, Roz and Steven.

I know that my gallery is a total mish-mash of everything from pumpkin carvings to coffee mugs but I can't help it. I see something that needs art on it I'll draw it paint it, even if there's nothing around, I'll just have to sculpt it. I know it looks like those aren't my art work but it is.
By profession I'm a designer, or more specifically, a tee shirt designer. Maybe for a little bit longer than I'd have liked, 30 plus years. Don't get me wrong there's still more designs needing to get outta me but I find myself wanting to draw it directly on the shirt than figuring out how to mass produce it.
The last couple of years I've branched out to a lot more than comics and trying my hand in the artist alley ring. Making things like stickers, mugs, hats, shirts, key rings, re-sculpt toys, art sketch books and prints. (Even re-painting Minions which baffles my mind cuz it still sells) I've noticed that booths selling prints are a dime a dozen and they're all trying to out do the next guy by making their towers taller than their neighbors. So either it's going to all come crashing down or we're going to have to figure out how to offer customers something different.
I dunno what point I'm trying to say here except as an artist maybe we should never get to where we're going but keep looking over the horizon. Maybe art should be always changing cuz that's how life is.

Looking forward to an eventful year.

Amazing Hawaii Comic con was a rager. Attendance was off the hook. I put together a new art book: Outta my Head3. I made it triple the page count, magazine size and in full color. Of the new items I put together only a few took off. The Bruce Lee print, new sketchbook and the crazy Kikaida and Mononoke hats got a huge spotlight. After an exhausting weekend I didn't even get to unpack the car because of Mini Con at the Moilili Library, Saturday 9/26/15. And there's still one more show, Anime Day at Windward Mall, Saturday 10/3/15. If anybody can make out there stop by and visit. I'll have a table out there selling Limited edition prints, Custom Pop! figures, Stickers, sketchbooks and hats. 10am to 4pm.

Amazing Hawaii Comic Con is almost here. I've finally come to the realization that even if you finish everything you need for a show there's always more that can be worked on. It's like a never ending quest. As long as the major items are taken care of I'm not going to worry about the rest. I just don't want to stress out my family any more than I have to.
Completed my next Bruce Lee print another Kikaida and Hakaida one as well. Also restocked my Kid-kiada trading cards. I'm still trying to figure out what is needed to balance out my artist alley table. Price wise as well as merch wise.

Anyway, anybody interested the show is next week, Sept 18-20 at the Hawaii Convention Center. Amazing Hawaii Comic Con, with special guest Stan 'the Man' Lee. I'm excited cuz I'm the biggest comic fanatic in the world. I can't wait! Hope to see you there!

Time to Rest

2 min read
August has the unique position of being right in the middle of the 2 shows I'm attending. Time to rest? Not even! Took the time at Comic-Con Honolulu to write down all the items missing, lacking or needs replacing. I keep my prints to a strict 25 copies limit and I've sold out of Bruce Lee, Kikaida and almost gone of Hakaida. Also in dire need of restocking, Kiakida and Kid-kiada Trading cards. Also sold out of my McMinions Kikaida and Kikaida 01 figures. I don't have the heart to sell them more than 10 bucks but I may have to since they sell too fast at that price point. I'm gonna need a identity banner, sign or something with my name on it. When things slowed down on Sunday I went walking around to the other booths to get ideas on how to better set up my table. Am I displaying all my merch appropriately? Do I need better displays other than those wire cubes? Can I set up the cubes differently? Questions that I gotta address before September.

The next show is certainly shaping out to be a huge mass comic-con frenzy. With guests Stan Lee, Adam Kubert, George Perez, Mark Bagley, Kevin Eastman and recently added Rob Liefeld, Greg Capullo and I think more will be added before the show arrives.
