I know that my gallery is a total mish-mash of everything from pumpkin carvings to coffee mugs but I can't help it. I see something that needs art on it I'll draw it paint it, even if there's nothing around, I'll just have to sculpt it. I know it looks like those aren't my art work but it is.
By profession I'm a designer, or more specifically, a tee shirt designer. Maybe for a little bit longer than I'd have liked, 30 plus years. Don't get me wrong there's still more designs needing to get outta me but I find myself wanting to draw it directly on the shirt than figuring out how to mass produce it.
The last couple of years I've branched out to a lot more than comics and trying my hand in the artist alley ring. Making things like stickers, mugs, hats, shirts, key rings, re-sculpt toys, art sketch books and prints. (Even re-painting Minions which baffles my mind cuz it still sells) I've noticed that booths selling prints are a dime a dozen and they're all trying to out do the next guy by making their towers taller than their neighbors. So either it's going to all come crashing down or we're going to have to figure out how to offer customers something different.
I dunno what point I'm trying to say here except as an artist maybe we should never get to where we're going but keep looking over the horizon. Maybe art should be always changing cuz that's how life is.
Looking forward to an eventful year.
